Build from source

Compile it yourself

Prefer to build Typeel from the source code, or on a platform without a ready-made download? You'll need a few free developer tools, then a single build command.

1 · Install the prerequisites

Node.js 18 or newer (includes npm) — nodejs.org
Rust (stable) — rustup.rs
Your platform's build tools for Tauri:
- macOS: the Xcode Command Line Tools only — run xcode-select --install (not the full Xcode app)
- Windows: WebView2 (already on Windows 11) plus the Microsoft C++ Build Tools
- Linux: libwebkit2gtk-4.1-dev, librsvg2-dev, patchelf and a few others — see the Tauri link below

2 · Get the code and build

$ git clone https://github.com/Dec444/Typeel.git

$ cd typeel

$ npm install # first run also fetches Rust crates

$ npm run tauri build

When it finishes, your installer is written to src-tauri/target/release/bundle/.
